The Choy Collections are comprised of several donations made by Pacific University alumnus Timothy Y.C. Choy, Ph.D., in honor of his friends and family.
Dr. Choy received his bachelor’s degree from Pacific University in 1964 and his master’s and doctorate degrees from The Pennsylvania State University. He was a professor of speech communications at Moorhead State College for 30 years before retiring and returning to his native Hawai’i. He served the Honolulu Academy of Arts as its director of special events and special assistant to the chairman of the board until his 2004 retirement.
Dr. Choy credits his mother and his aunt with cultivating his lifelong interests in both art and philanthropy. In addition to the collections celebrated in this exhibit, Dr. Choy generously supports Pacific University and its students through the Ellen Choy Craig Scholarship, honoring his mother, and the Stella O.H. Lee Endowment for Library Acquisitions, honoring his aunt.
