Pacific University's President Faith Gabelnick in full academic regalia, surrounded by Pacific University students all wearing red, during her Inauguration on September 24, 1995. Gabelnick was Pacific's first woman president, serving from 1995-2003. In this photograph, she is wearing the President's medal with the seal of the university, and what appears to be a maile-style lei (though it might be made with oak or laurel leaves); this may have been a nod to Pacific's Hawaiian student community, and/or to Pacific's traditions honoring the oaks on campus. They are standing on the steps of Marsh Hall. This image was used on the cover of Pacific's Alumni Magazine in the Fall 1995 issue.
