A photograph of two men sitting in front of the Perrydale Railroad Station. Perrydale is an unincorporated community in Polk County, Oregon. This photograph was printed on postcard stock and includes a note to "Miss Winnette Sears". It is postmarked 1909. This photograph is part of the Charles Lovell and Winnette Sears Walker Collection. Winnette was a 1906 alumna of Linfield College. Charles was an alumnus of Tualatin Academy who later became a musician and an insurance agent in Hillsboro, Oregon.

His feet are held by another man, who in turn is sitting on the shoulders of a third man, who appears to be sitting on the shoulders of a fourth man. The man in the cab wears a white shirt and a dark sweater and an engineer's type cap. The other men wear an engineer's cap, a newsboy cap, and a fedora. The second man from the top of the stack wears a white shirt and suspenders; the other men all wear dark shirts. Behind the engine are thick trees, and ferns are visible in the bottom foreground.

All are wearing hats, one is a bowler and one looks like it could be a campaign hat. The wheels on the cart are metal rims with metal spokes. The sign on the side of the railroad station says Forest Grove.
Picture of James J. Hill, stepping down from his private railroad car in Forest Grove. There are a number of people there to meet him. J. J. Hill was known as “the Empire Builder” as he built the Great Northern Railroad with his own money. Hill created the Spokane, Portland and Seattle Railroad which brought the Oregon Electric Railroad to Forest Grove. The engine house can be seen in the background.
