Sepia-toned image of the front of a building. About a dozen men and one boy in overalls stand on the boardwalk or planked road in front of the two-story building. Several store fronts with recessed doors and squared framed windows take up the first floor beneath a recessed awning, while the second floor features square bay windows. An upper pediment on the roof reads 'Woods [and] Caples, 1893.' Four bikes are visible, two parked up against the front of the building, one against the side, and another leaning against the edge of the boardwalk. Signs indicate a doctor's office and a dentists' office are on the second floor, while a blank slate on the far side of the building reads 'Washington County Mills' on the top.
Black and white image of a two-story building with a produce stand and a barber shop taking up its the lower floor. The upper floor has three windows, one with the number 1909 in the upper clerestory window. The upper roofline of the building features crenellations, giving it the appearance of castle towers. Beneath the central and highest pediment is a logo which reads, 'K of P, F.C., no. 34.' Coca cola advertising dominates the grocery store signage, while two men in barbering shirts watch from the windows of the barber shop next door.
Black and white image of a Quonset-hut style building being constructed. At this point, only the joists and framing are up. White lettering on the bottom of the image reads, 'Progress - 12M - June 3, 1921 - Hillsboro Park Pavilion.'
Black and white image of the completed new Washington County Administration building. Construction was completed in October of 1974, in the second of a three phase plan to expand the county's government office space to meet the needs of the growing county population.
Black and white image of several men watching a wrecking ball destroy a building. Washington county in the late 1960s and early 1970s was the fastest growing county in Oregon, and the expansion was necessary to provide room for the growing county government. Construction on this phase of the project was finished in late 1972. In the background on the left of the image is the new county jail, finished in 1971 as part of phase one of this expansion project.

Black and white image of a large backhoe sitting in back of the Washington County Courthouse where a building was recently demolished to make way for a new county jail. The county's first 'modern' jail was completed in 1970; it had been not-quite 120 years since the first jail was built in the county. Washington county in the late 1960s and early 1970s was the fastest growing county in Oregon.
Black and white image of a holiday scene in front of the County courthouse. A large, inflatable Santa stands to the right of the image, while on the steps of the courthouse a brass band can be seen. Some people mill about on the lawn, while others wait on the sidewalk. Christmas stars hang from the pediment on the portico, and other holiday decorations are also visible. While everyone in the image wears coats, there is no snow on the ground.
Black and white image of the Hillsboro Courthouse at night. Lighted stars hang from the pediment on the front portion, and candles and other decorations are displayed in windows and on the columns of the entrance. Snow covers the ground in front of the courthouse.
Black and white image of a single-story industrial building. Windows line the visible side, and a large concrete block extends up from the front lobby, bearing the legend 'General Motors Training Center.' The building sits in a lot that has been graded and shaped, but where no grass yet grows.
Black and white photograph of Grove Furniture. The brick building has two stories, the lower one with double recessed doors set between large, plate glass windows. The upper floor features three sets of double-hung paned windows in protruding bays. A metal power pole stands across a paved street, and a pick-up truck is parked in front of the building.
Photograph of a wooden church with a steep, gabled roof and a square bell tower at the front. The church is mid-toned with white moldings and other decorative accents. Arched windows with double panes bracket the front porch, which has a gabled roof with a white cross on its pediment. Stairs with railings lead up on either side of the porch. Windows down the side of the church alternate double paned arched with triple panes, and the bell tower has a slightly smaller arched window with the double-paned construction. The bell tower extends from the porch to just above the roofline of the main building, and is topped with an octagonal belfry built of dormer windows and topped with a tall, sloping steeple of alternating dark and light bands of shingles. On the very top is a heavily carved square cross. A smaller gabled section giving the building a t-shape projects from the rear, and has a chimney and a single, double-paned arched window on the visible end. The minimal lot around the church has some grass, while the street appears to be muddy dirt. Sidewalks run past the church on both visible sides, and a power pole rises up about twenty feet in front of the church. There is a small cross-bar and a single power line extending from the top of the pole. The cross-bar of another pole protrudes into the left side of the image and another two-story building juts into the image on that same side.
Black and white image of a Mission Revival style building on a street corner. The three-story building sits behind a concrete sidewalk, with a power pole and a fire hydrant on the corner. The sidewalk verge is dirt and the main door is on the shorter facade of the building.
Sepia-toned image of a man standing on the boardwalk in front of a single-storied store front. He leans against the door jamb outside the open door. Paned glass windows bracket the door, and the sign on the upper portion of the building reads 'Pittenger & Weatherred Boots Shoes & Clothing.' [sic] He wears a suit, a watch fob, and a hat. Hats and hanging clothes are visible in the window behind him.
Black and white image of a stucco, two-story building in the Mission Revival style. The building sits on a street corner; the front faade features four arches on either side of the main entrance, which has two recessed doors topped by an elaborate, carved lintel bearing the words 'Hillsboro City Hall' beneath a round shield. The arches to the image left of the door show garage doors; the arches to the right are bricked in at the bottom then filled with banks of windows. The second floor has two sets of three double-hung windows with shutters, each set with a small, wrought iron balcony beneath. The first story of the second side of the building features two matching arched windows, and three single garage doors, and a double garage attachment at the rear. The second floor has the same windows as the left facade, in sets of two. The building features a short roof of tile. Three cars are parked along the street curb, two are enclosed cabs with four doors; one is a 'jalopy' style. Power lines run across from the upper left of the image, and trees in full leaf are visible on either edge beyond the main building.
East entrance of Washington County courthouse showing heavy snow. Building is three stories tall, traditional classic style, with a protruding central arm ending in a pediment supported by four Doric columns. Three double doors open out between the columns, topped by large, paned glass windows. To either side four large, single-paned windows line each floor. Bare trees covered in snow frame the image from the front.
Photographic postcard of the Washington County Courthouse beneath a cloudy sky. Building is later, more elaborate version, dark stone with light colored supports and decorations. Porch has columns leading up to roof that provides balcony for the second floor. Sequoias are about even with the middle of the second floor, and a number of other large trees are placed about the yard surrounding it. A sidewalk leads up to it, and beaten dirt paths lead away from the front porch to the left. A number of houses are visible behind the building, and roads run parallel to the building in the background. Thick trees fill in behind the houses.
Photo of a large, two-story stone building with a clock tower with a group of men standing in front of it. The building is Romanesque in style, with a t-shaped construction featuring dark brick walls and lighter brick corners and ornamentation. Windows are arched with decorative cornices of lighter stone. The front features a covered porch with a second story balcony in place of the roof. The third floor has four small clerestory windows, and the clock tower is square, with a clock face on each visible sight. Its roof is peaked and four-sided. Several chimneys jut from the edges of the roof, and the ridge line features an ornamental fence. The men in front of the building are all wearing dark suits. The building is surrounded by grass, and a paved path leads from the front. Two small pine trees bracket either side of the porch, and a small white building with a door and single paned window is visible at the rear of the building.
