Black and white image of a white mule harnessed to a ground sled where two children sit. One child appears to be holding each rein of the mule's harness. Thick bushes fill the background of the image, and a house with a covered porch and a railing is just visible beneath them. Museum records do not identify the children, but this image is one of a number of glass negatives donated by Thomas Clapshaw.
Black and white image of three men gathered around a campfire. One man stands at the far side of the fire, near a table with pots and pans. Another sits on a stump at the right of the image, and appears to be feeding the dog at his feet. A third man leans against a bench looking over his shoulder at the camera. A dog noses about beside him, and two fishing poles lean against the front of the bench. A weathered wooden building can be seen in the right background of the image, and debris and clothing are scattered about the ground and on the bench and tables. A fishing creel sits on a makeshift table at the right of the image. Museum records do not identify the men specifically, but this image is one of a number of glass negative plates donated by Thomas Clapshaw.
Black and white image of two women seated on either side of a smoldering fire in the forest. The woman on the left sits on a small bench and has a small dog at her side and a coffee pot sits off to the right of her feet. Across the fire, the young woman is seated on a wagon seat that has been set on the ground. She holds a rifle in her lap. Both of the women wear simple dresses. In the background is a wagon with blankets piled beneath it and several other rifles and an ax leaning against the larger rear wheel. Two horses, unharnessed, are tethered behind the wagon. Museum records do not identify the women specifically, but this image is one of a number of glass negative plates donated by Thomas Clapshaw.
Black and white image of four men in front of a weatherworn cabin. Two men lean against the cabin, one with a rifle and with a hunting dog on a thin leash. Two other men are seated nearby, also with dogs and at least one rifle. The cabin appears to be at least partially deconstructed, and thick forest lies behind it. The cabin at one time was a stop on the stage road to Tillamook, Oregon on what is now Oregon Highway 6. Museum records do not identify the men specifically, but the man second from the right of the image appears to be Carl Clapshaw. This image is one of a number of glass negative plates donated by Thomas Clapshaw.
Black and white image of a truss bridge over the Wilson River. A dirt road leads to the bridge and proceeds out of the frame behind it. Heavy brush and trees fill the background of the image. One man stands on the bridge while another sits on the railing of the approach. Both men hold what appear to be rifles. Museum records do not identify the men on the bridge, but this image is one of a number of glass negative plates donated by Thomas Clapshaw.

Paper and boxes litter the ground, and a number of large pine trees fill the area, which is backed by thick forest.

Each girl wears a cap, and one girl holds a catcher's mitt and ball while the other holds a bat. Two more gloves lie on the ground at their feet. The girls wear button up boots. They stand in front of a tree with several trunks, in a large yard with an empty field in the background.
Black and white image of seven men posing with three dead bucks. Two of the men sit on the back of a wagon while a third stands in the wagon. On man leans on the wagon sides, while three others either stand or recline on the ground near the dead deer, which are draped over and about the wagon tongue. All the deer are bucks. The men all have rifles in hand, and a box reading Shaker Salt sits on the ground to the left of the of image. The undergrowth is thick and lush.

She wears a dark coat with an oriental style front that fastens on the side and has a dark decorative band along the edge as well as the cuff. She wears dark stockings and boots, and her hair is pulled back and caught up in a ribbon. The doll appears to be a bisque-faced doll and is wearing a coat with a fleece collar, a muff and a hat.

The bear itself is laying over the stump with its head and paws hanging down to the front. Both men wear work shirts and hats, and the visible vegetation is lush and thick. Tall pine trees fill the background of the image. The photograph was most likely taken in the Coast Range of Oregon, along the Wilson River. Donated by Thomas Clapshaw.

Black and white image of a girl sitting in a child-sized rocker with a puppy on her lap and a baby in a stroller next to her. The girl wears a print dress with dark stockings and flat, lace-up shoes. Her hair is pulled back and tied with a large bow behind her head. She holds a puppy in her lap. The baby next to her sits in a carriage with wire-spoked wheels and is wrapped in several layers of blankets. The building behind them is weathered, with a wooden door and a number of plants growing alongside and on the porch on which the girl and baby sit. Photograph donated by Thomas Clapshaw.
Black and white image of a young girl in a short skirt standing at the top of the porch stairs. A puppy stands next to her, and she appears to be cuddling either another small animal or a toy. Her hair is pulled back and tied with a large bow, and she wears a short dropped waist dress with black stockings and boots. The porch railing behind her blocks any real view of the landscape beyond. The image was donated by Thomas Clapshaw, though no identifying information about the young girl has been found.
Black and white image showing a camp in the trees and a narrow trail with tire tracks leading up into it. There are two wooden buildings and what appears to be a canvas tent to one side. Camp was located at the confluence of the South Fork and the Devils Lake Fork of the Wilson River in Tillamook County; this particular route later became Highway 6, the Wilson River Highway, after a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project in the late 1930s and early 1940s completed the highway.
Black and white image of three women in a camp in the woods. A canvas tent is set up on one side, behind a table. Clotheslines with laundry hanging from them cross the center image. Two tables are visible, one appears to be a work table while the other is covered with a cloth and appears to be used for eating. Two of the women are reading, one seated near a fire with a book, and the other sitting on what looks like the seat to a wagon reading a newspaper. The undergrowth is thick and lush, and the fireplace smolders in the background. In many earlier photos of camps, it almost appears that families simply transported their usual living quarters out into the woods. This camp is less elaborate, perhaps because it is a hunting camp. This image was donated by Thomas Clapshaw of Forest Grove, Oregon.
