People standing on the platform of the Wilkesboro train station near Banks, Oregon, circa 1911-1914. This was a stop on the electric interurban United Railways route that ran from Portland to Wilkesboro beginning in 1911. Train car number 900 is on the track. A sign on the station reads, "Great Northern Express Co." The Great Northern Express was a conventional railway that connected to the United Railways line.
The photographer, William Alonso Clapshaw, exposed half of a glass plate negative to create this image. The other half of the glass plate was used to make another photograph; see image PUA_MS154_011b. Flaws in the photograph are due to dust and deterioration of the emulsion layer on the negative.

At the left side of the depot, two women in white dresses stand on either side of a man wearing a dark hat, white shirt and suspenders, and dark pants. To the right of that grouping, a man stands with his left arm around a woman. They are holding their left hands together. The man wears a hat and jacket, a white shirt, and dark pants. The woman is wearing a full-length dress. To their right at the corner of the depot building, a boy wearing overalls is sitting down facing the photographer. The Tigard depot was located on Main Street in Tigard along the south side of rail line. A November 20, 1907 article in the Oregonian reported that the Oregon Electric Railway's last spike connecting Portland and Salem was driven "near Tigardville."
