This photograph is printed on postcard stock and includes a brief note from "Will" to "Miss Winnette Sears". It is postmarked February 8, 1909. Winnette was a 1906 alumna of Linfield College. Charles was an alumnus of Tualatin Academy who later became a musician and an insurance agent in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Most of the men wear suits, all appear to wear hats, which include straw boaters, newsboy caps, fedoras, and others. Two boys watch, one in shirtsleeves and tie with a boater, the other with a straw hat, long-sleeved shirt buttoned to the collar, and short pants. One man wears suspenders, with an umbrella on the ground behind him; another man holds an umbrella. A long plank fence runs along the back of the field; tall, leafy trees and houses are visible behind the fence.
Fourteen men pose before a brick wall, seven seated on a bench, four on the ground before them and three standing behind them. All wear knickers, dark or ribbed socks, and ankle-high laced up shoes. Several wear dark turtlenecks; five wear tightly laced, light-colored long-sleeved shirts; one wears a vest laced over a dark, long-sleeved shirt. One man on the bench wears a cap with a brim. a man reclining on the ground holding a football also wears a Tam o'Shanter. On the matting below the image is written in black ink: 'Foot Ball Team, Hillsboro, Oregon 1897 or 8.'

Ten boys, six seated on a bench, and four standing behind, wear dark shorts, shoes, and white tank tops, all but one shirt with a large 'H' on the front. In the center back stands a man in a suit, white shirt and tie. In the front row, two boys hold trophy cups and inbetween them a boy holds a basketball with ''32' written on it. Bare branches of trees are visible reflected in the windows.

All but one of the boys wear light-colored, long-sleeved uniforms with knickers, dark socks, and caps. The uniforms are buttoned to the neck and each have a large 'H' on the left chest. In the center of the group, an older boy kneels, he wears a long sleeved shirt with an indecipherable symbol on the left chest and a dark, brimmed hat pushed back on head. Several boys display baseball globes, without webbing, and one of the seated boys has a catcher's mitt. In front of the group two bats lay crossed over each other, with a catcher's mask. Numbers have been inked on each boy's uniform.
