It is likely that this event was part of the wider Christian Revival movement which occurred in America in the 1890s. The sign above them in from Hebrews 9:28 (King James Bible) and reads: "So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for Him shall He appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
