Oregon Governor Victor Atiyeh (left) removes a ribbon from around a 'Burnsahol' pump at a Burns Bros. station, the first station in Oregon to offer gasohol for sale to the public. Governor Atiyeh was the first customer to purchase gasohol for use in his state vehicle. Atiyeh said that he hoped people would turn to the use of gasohol as an alternate to gasoline.

The truckers drove to Salem in a convoy from Portland - in the convoy, there were cars, trucks, and one motorcycle. Crandall told the Governor, as he poured the peanuts, 'We can't run our trucks on peanuts, Governor.'
