Oregon Governor Victor Atiyeh holds up a turkey sandwich and a 'Turkeys need love too' T-shirt as he has a lunch of a turkey sandwich and coffee with over 250 citizens of the Willamette Valley community. Some 27,000 turkeys from the area were impounded after state and federal tests showed the birds were contaminated with PCB, a cancer causing chemical. The turkey industry generated nearly eight million dollars for the area, and the turkey lunch was sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce to offset adverse publicity brought on by the impounding of the birds.
