Pacific University class of 1903 graduate William G. Hare in the early 1940's. Hare was a member of the Pacific University Board of Trustees from 1921 to 1926.
Pacific University graduate Reverend George Washington Kennedy in the 1900s. Kennedy was from Hood River, Oregon, but he was born in Illinois in September 1847. Kennedy traveled to Oregon from Illinois with his parents by ox team and wagon when he was a child. As an adult he preached at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Baker County, Oregon. Later, Kennedy returned to Hood River and was a Methodist minister and had a small farm near Ruthton Hill. He died on May 11, 1926 and is buried at the Idlewilde Cemetery in Hood River.
This photo of Frances B. Clapp was taken on June 30, 1903, the year she graduated with a bachelor's degree in music from Pacific University. She later received a Ph.D in music from Pacific in 1935. Clapp went to Japan and taught at the Doshisha Women's University. She also conducted missionary work while there. The Japanese government honored Clapp with the Fifth Order of Sacred Treasure.
Frances B. Clapp graduated from Pacific University in 1908 and later received a Ph.D. in music at Pacific. Clapp left America to teach at the Doshisha Women's College in Japan and to missionary work there. She was later honored by the Japanese government by decorating her with the Fifth Order of the Sacred Treasure. There was an endowed scholarship created in Clapp's name at Pacific for music students.
