Description
Cecile Froehlich, the first woman to obtain the rank of full professor at City College in New York, visited Pacific University in the 1970s. Froehlich was born in Germany and came to the U.S. after World War 2. She was a professor of electrical engineering at City College from 1945 to 1966. Her achievements while there include first woman faculty member, first full time female professor, first female to be a department chair, and first woman to head any engineering department anywhere in the United States.
