A posed photograph of a man, probably a Pacific University student, performing a chemistry experiment in a lab on campus. The photograph was likely intended to illustrate the new resources available in the "Chemistry Unit of the Science Complex," later named Murdock Hall, which had just opened in January of 1981. The picture was taken by photographer Leo E. Arfer, probably for usage in publications celebrating the opening of the building. Arfer was a professional photographer who also taught photography at Mt. Hood Community College, per his obituary. The original slide is dated February, 1981.
