Title

Woman with a Texas Instruments Silent 700 Machine
-
Description
-
A woman, probably a Librarian, operating a Texas Instruments Silent 700 machine in an Pacific University office. This was an early keyboard interface device for connecting to computer systems. The cup-shaped objects at the back of the machine were an acoustic coupler, used for transmitting data over telephone lines by attaching a telephone receiver. The original slide was printed in July, 1978. This is one of a set of photographs that appears to have been posed in order to demonstrate the range of work that was taking place in the library.
