Pacific University students eating watermelon at a Haumana O Hawai'i (Hawaiian Club) event in the fall of 1970. They are identified on the original slide from left-to-right as: John Wainwright; John Hew (Class of 1975); and and Kenneth Kubota. This photograph was taken in Fall of 1970, probably on the back porch of the Scheller family home, who lived in Aloha, Oregon. Professor Scheller was an advisor to Haumana O Hawai'i (Hawaiian Club), and appears to have hosted many social events for Hawaiian students in his home around this time period.
