They are relaxing in the sun while eating watermelon. This photograph was likely taken at the home of Professor Fred Scheller, who lived in Aloha, Oregon. Scheller was an advisor to Haumana O Hawai'i, and appears to have hosted many social events for Hawaiian students in his home around this time period.
