Description: A portrait of Rick Read, who served as Pacific University's archivist and museum curator from 1989-1987. This image was scanned from the dustjacket of the book he co-wrote on Pacific's history, Splendid Audacity. Read was the university's first professionally trained full-time curator as well as an excellent writer and historian. He died in a climbing accident on Mount Hood in 2002.
