The Victor Atiyeh Papers contain materials from his business, political, and personal activities, dating from 1923-2012, as well as collected materials and family papers predating the primary body of the collection. The bulk of the materials pertain to his campaigns for and his service in political office, particularly his two terms as Governor of Oregon, 1979-1987, and to the international consulting business he established after leaving office in 1987. Collection materials include appointment books, audio cassettes, awards, budgets, campaign materials, certificates, correspondence, directories, memoranda, memorabilia, notes, photographs, poll results, posters, press clippings, publications, receipts, reports, schedules, scrapbooks, speeches, and video tapes.

Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh bites into a turkey sandwich made from turkeys from Norbest processing plant. Some 27,000 turkeys were impounded from a flock near McMinnville at the same processing plant after state and federal tests showed that some of the birds had high concentrations of PCB, a cancer causing chemical. Free turkey sandwiches were offered by the Chamber of Commerce to offset or counteract adverse publicity that the impounding caused. Atiyeh said, 'it tastes good,' after he bit into the sandwich.

The photo was taken during Packwood's 1983 roast, hosted by the Greater Bend Rotary Club at the Inn of the Seventh Mountain in Bend, Oregon. Hatfield was the Governor of Oregon from 1959 to 1967 and later served about thirty years as a United States senator. He died in 2011. Packwood was an Oregon senator from 1969 to 1995, when he resigned following a scandal.
