Oregon Governor Vic Atiyeh bites into a turkey sandwich made from turkeys from Norbest processing plant. Some 27,000 turkeys were impounded from a flock near McMinnville at the same processing plant after state and federal tests showed that some of the birds had high concentrations of PCB, a cancer causing chemical. Free turkey sandwiches were offered by the Chamber of Commerce to offset or counteract adverse publicity that the impounding caused. Atiyeh said, 'it tastes good,' after he bit into the sandwich.
